Leather, Denim and Chiffon

A quick outfit post for you today as I haven't done one in a while! I am still on the search for new locations for my outfits in Nottingham but these green trees and falling leaves seemed like the perfect backdrop for my autumnal outfit. Although I am definitely a summer bunny, I do love the beautiful colours and feel of autumn, even though we seem to of been fast tracked to winter already! Depressing!
Anyway, after seeing these photos I have realised how very unflattering these leather trousers are, don't think they will be making an appearance again! But they kind of fit in with the theme of Halloween...Happy Halloween!

Nottingham Vintage Fair

Today I headed over to the Nottingham Vintage Fair in The Albert Hall. Being a huge vintage fan I thought I should check it out despite the grim Sunday weather and a horrific hangover. The hall was packed full of wall to wall beautiful clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery and everything gorgeous! As we only got there an hour before it finished a lot of stuff had been sold already and as I went a little crazy on shopping this weekend, I didn't actually purchase anything in the end. Luckily, I was satisfied with a bit of window shopping, followed by a lovely cup of tea in a vintage china teacup to finish it all off. Perfect Sunday.

The Lookhit Fashion Festival

Today I went along to The Lookhit Fashion Festival, a day full of catwalks, competitions and fashion films. I went with my friend Tasha to check it out and get our fix of fashion for the day. The event kicked off with a catwalk show which was a street stylist competition, with the winner being given a job working for Lookhit. We were then shown a short fashion film about The Female Body. The film highlighted the topics of  the media and the issues facing young girls today which I found extremely interesting and thought provoking. Following the film was a Fashion as Art catwalk which was stunning. Of course, what is a fashion event without an after show party. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the after party as my friend is coming up to visit me for the weekend so had to get home for her arrival. However, I had a great time at the event and always love seeing all the hard work and passion that go into shows like this.

Modern Marketing: The Role of the Older Lady

Here is another article I have written for my University magazine, hope you find it interesting...

Apparently 80 is the new 20. Or so I am told by the marketing experts, it is all about the older lady these days. People are living longer and wanting to feel glamorous and fashionable with age, they don't want to be viewed as old and past it anymore, and who can blame them!? Attitudes seem to be slowly changing and luxury brands in particular are realising the scope they have with this generation. Brands are beginning to use older women in their campaigns showing a real awareness of attitudes towards ageing. These women, our mothers and grandmothers, are the ones that inspire us, so what is better than to use them to inspire the fashion world. However, the most prominent change and trend here is the entire blogs dedicated to the older generation and in particular, street style. The biggest of these has to be Ari Seth Cohen's blog, Advanced Style, which focuses on the stylish street style of the older men and women of New York. The blog was even the framework for a book and will be made into a film next year! Oldies mean big bucks! Not to mention other blogs such as The Women's Room and That's Not My Age which, as British trend forecaster Jane Kellock points out, "growing older does not mean women lose interest in fashion and style"

But for now, watch out, there is a huge gap in the market for a brand to appeal and target purely for the 65+ women. These women have huge spending power and are crying out for brands that cater and market solely for them. I predict a huge surge in glamorous grannies walking the streets and hopefully, by the time our generation has hit that age we will be fashionable and fabulous grannies!

Come Nibble With Me

On Wednesday me and my friends had our annual night where we all just get together and eat a crazy amount of food! The best night of the year! After last years cheese and wine party, we decided to take it a step further and not limit ourselves to just cheese, we went all out! We decided to each bring or make a dish, however, most people ended up bringing two...and just spent the night eating and drinking as much as we could! What could be better?

Skinny Sprinkles Review

Last week I was given the opportunity to review these skinny sprinkles for my University magazine which I am now writing for. This isn't something I would usually post on my blog but I thought some of you may be interested if you were thinking of trying them:

I have always been quite sceptical of so called ‘diet’ pills, shakes and weight loss supplements and have never really felt the need to use them. But when I was given the opportunity to try these Skinny Sprinkles I was intrigued to know if they would actually work and how they would benefit a healthy lifestyle. We all know that uni makes you fat! Binge drinking, cooking for yourself and having Tesco right around the corner means that many students gain a few pounds. I know I have which is why I wanted to give these a try.

It is important to point out that this product should not be used for dramatic weight loss or as meal replacements, they are primarily an addition to your diet and are used to help you feel fuller for longer, eat smaller portion sizes, or just as a snack replacement when you need a bit of a pick me up.
Now, here is the technical bit. Skinny Sprinkles is “a strawberry flavoured weight loss drink mixed with water to form a smoothie. With less than 20 calories per drink, it contains active ingredients scientifically proven to boost weight loss, increase alertness and stamina as well as maintaining weight. Skinny Sprinkles contains the active ingredient Glucomannan to aid weight reduction in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet. Glucomannan expands in the stomach to become a gel which like food, empties slowly”
Got it? All that sounds good to me, and the thing I like most about it is that it is not just aimed at people wanting to lose weight, it can also be used to help boost stamina and performance before a gym session which is perfect to give you that much needed energy and motivation to hit the gym after a long day in the library.
The sachets are really easy to make, you just empty the contents into a glass, fill with water and stir, and then voila, you’re ready to down it. And when I say down it, I mean it. It settles really quickly so if you don’t get it down in one then you are left with the residue at the bottom. The drink smells really nice, and tastes alright I suppose, being a relatively fussy eater I found it manageable, so a normal person should have no problem!
And now for the results, did it actually work? YES it did! I tended to drink mine just before the gym to give me energy and stave off hunger before dinner, and it really worked. It gave me loads of energy and banished those hunger pangs straight through til dinner. If you are looking for a really fast way to shed a few pounds then I would definitely recommend Skinny Sprinkles, or if you just take them every so often before a big gym session then thumbs up too. But if you are looking for a long-term solution then these aren’t for you. Although, I enjoyed experimenting with these, I don’t think I would purchase them again as I don’t like the idea of there being gel in my stomach and don’t think they will work in the long term.

You can purchase Skinny Sprinkle online at www.skinnysprinkles.co.uk with a 21-sachet box costing you £29.95 + P&P.

Winter Loving

If you read my last outfit post, you will know what I was having issues trying to find a new location for my photos as I have moved back to uni and back to the city with no nice garden and greenery as a background. However, I took a trip into town on a mission for finding some nice scenery... and I came across some rather lovely places. The area around Nottingham castle is beautiful and has got that old-age charm about it, which I thought was a perfect setting for this cosy winter outfit. Welcome to my new favourite coat, literally can't stop wearing it. It goes with absolutely everything, and the fur stole is detachable which changes it to a brand new coat! In love.
