Get NKD in Nottingham

On Friday I was invited along to Nottinghams go-to salon for all your waxing needs to test out one of their treatments. I went for a full leg and Brazilian wax, which, lets just say, wasn't the most comfortable experience ever, but you know what they say, no pain no gain! NKD are the waxing specialists, devoting their entire salon to hair removal, therefore each one of their staff is highly trained in specialising in removing your unwanted hair! On top of all that, they promise to make your wax as pain-free as possible, sounds good to me! They are Nottinghams first and only waxing and hair removal boutique and from back waxes to Hollywood's, they do it all!

On arriving at the salon, you instantly feel like you are in a luxurious, boutique'y salon and the lovely staff make you feel comfortable and relaxed. My treatment was done by the wonderful Jenny who was a true professional and made me feel at ease straight away. She began with the Brazilian wax, which, I'm not gonna lie was pretty intimate and uncomfortable, but definitely not as bad as I was expecting, and the pain was pretty much gone straight away after the initial shock! NKD believe in using a superior hot wax for intimate areas which sticks to the hair and not to the skin , resulting in less pain and fewer ingrown hairs. I was relieved once it was over and moved on to my legs which felt like a walk in the park after the Brazilian. The wax was so thorough  Jenny even went round the whole area afterwards with a pair of tweezers to get any stray hairs that were missed, before smoothing a soothing lotion all over, which felt amazing afterwards! Surprisingly the treatment took nearly an hour to do everything, and I came out feeling so soft and smooth.
The salon is tucked away up Bridlesmith Gate
If you really wanted to go all out you can even get yourself an infamous vajazzle!
Lovely post-wax treatments the salon stocks
NKD also have their very own lash and brow bar as part of the salon. I was very tempted to go for the HD brows experience which looks absolutely amazing! If you know me or are a long time follower of my blog, you will know that I have a bit of an obsession with eyebrows. I just love the way they can completely change your face and is normally the first thing I notice about someone. The before and after shots of the HD brows are mind-blowing, as the 7 step treatment, including tinting, waxing and threading, completely revolutionises your eyebrows! However, as I absolutely love plucking and shaping my own eyebrows, I feel like it would be taking away my fun by letting someone else do it!

All in all, I would 100% recommend a visit to nkd if you are thinking of any type of waxing and hair removal or need a new set of brows or lashes. You will be in the safest of hands and will feel like an absolute goddess afterwards, being treated by Nottinghams best in the business! Also, above all that, there are loads of discounts and offers available so you can get a great professional treatment at a bargain price.

Winter Layering

God I hate this time of year...as I have already mentioned in my previous post, so I will try to not bore you with my moaning again! As darkness now seems to appear before 4pm and it is constantly raining,I am finding it very hard to take any outfit photos, because as soon as I get round to thinking about it or have finished uni, it is already pitch black. Not ideal! So instead of an outfit post this week I am going to cop out and give you a little moodboard/wishlist of what I would love to be wearing! I am absolutely loving all these colours for winter at the moment, and I am obsessed with layering even more, especially a fluffy gilet to make you feel all cosy and warm. I have also just bought a pair of tortoiseshell glasses which make me feel very intelligent and somehow seem to make me work harder, bringing out my inner geek!

Anyway I will try to squeeze some outfit photos into the 4 hours of daylight we have a day at some point this week! But for now, what are your favourite winter fashion essentials?

F&F Press Day

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go along and work at the F&F Spring/Summer '13 Press Day. I have never worked at an event like this before so it was a truly eye opening experience and got me super excited to finish my degree and start my career in the world of fashion! The venue for the event was the stunning One Marylebone, which was made to look like any fashion lovers heaven with beautiful decorations, iPad stations, delicious food and the piéce de résistance, a stunning revolving stage featuring the best of the F&F S/S Collection. The new collection was lovely, with womenswear being inspired by everything from 60's London to the matadors of Spain. The new high quality, flattering cuts and fashion forward items make you think you are looking at a premium brand, not an item you can snap up for £25!

My job at the event was to meet and greet the guests as they arrived and to arrange the VIP's their own private F&F branded taxi (revolutionary idea) on my own F&F iPad. Despite being on my feet for over 12 hours and arriving back in Nottingham at 11pm crying out for my bed, the event was an amazing experience and I can't wait to do many more.

Hair 'Mares

Reading through all my lovely comments from you beautiful people I have started to notice a common theme. You guys all seem to love my hair! I love getting these comments as I have always had a battle with my hair (as I am sure most girls have) and like the old saying goes, no one is ever happy with what they have got, right!? So as a lot of people seem to like my hair I thought I would do a little post about the products I use and how I look after it.

I have extremely thick hair and although I know people always want thick hair, it has always been such a big issue for me. First of all, my hair goes HUGE as soon as it gets any moisture, think humidity hair, think Monica from Friends hair. Ever since the age of about 10 I coined the phrase 'poofy hair'. This seems to cover all situations when my hair isn't as dead straight as I want it to be. Ever since the age of 13 when I got my first pair of hair straighteners, I have been a straitening devotee! I always straighten my hair to get rid of the 'poofiness' that seems to overtake it. However, recently I have started to appreciate my hair, and all the lovely comments I get about it have made me finally (kind of) love it and embrace my natural hair, I am even starting to not straighten it all the time!

Anyway, enough of that... here are my favourite hair products and recommendations to make your hair the best it can be!

First of all, my recently discovered and now favourite product: L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil. If you don't have the budget for Morrocan Oil, then this is definitely the next best thing, if not better. I apply it after washing my hair when it is still slightly damp and it makes my hair so shiny and healthy.

My next all time favourite hair product is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, which does exactly what it says on the tin. This hair mask is an absolute miracle worker, leaving your hair feeling silky smooth!

Another of my fail safe products is TRESemme heat protection spray, an absolute must for all the straightening fans among you!

I always finish off styling my hair with a little bit of serum to try and keep the frizz under control! I have two favourite hair serums, Phil Smith Xtreme Style and Fish High Gloss Serum, two great products, I can't choose between them!

Finally the all time best solution for poofy hair is the ultimate pair of straighteners, GHD's. These are absolute life savers as I am sure you are all aware. As far as I'm concerned no other hair straightener can touch it! I would be lost without my GHD's and find myself taking them everywhere and I find it impossible to use any other brand, ultimate brand loyalty... I got my first pair at 15 and I am already on my 4th!

So there you have it, my product guide to luscious locks. You may never be in love with your hair but there are definitely many ways to make the most of what you've got.

Is It Time For A Holiday Yet??

This time of year is the WORST! The November Blues are setting in. Summer is over, Christmas is still too far away and the weather is horrific. I find myself spending my spare time torturing myself and trawling through photos of beautiful locations and sunny climes and just feeling even more depressed that summer is a long, long way away. And this year is even worse than normal as I am in my third year of uni and have such a crazy amount of work to do I can't even look forward to Christmas because there is a lot of work in between us!

Anyway, to cheer you up (or depress you more) here are some beautiful photos of some lovely places that I have been drooling over whilst wishing my life away for next summer. (All images from weheartit)

Sorry for the incredibly dismal post.. I just read this back and it sounds like I want to kill myself...It's not really that bad but I like to be a drama queen!
