Mens Fashion- Autumn 2013: My Picks

You may know by now that I am a bit of a sucker for mens fashion and I seem to be drawn to menswear, both to look at, and on the rare occasion to wear...! Of course, mens fashion week has just gone by a couple of weeks ago but I have only just got round to writing this post due to the stresses and strains of third year uni life (sorry, I keep on going on about it!). Anyway, this season, mens fashion week was bigger and better than ever before, with menswear becoming more and more recognised, and beginning to catch up with womenswear. Men pay more attention to how they look and dress now than ever before, and there is nothing I love more than seeing an impeccably dressed man. So without further ado, here is just a little round up of some of my favourite collections from the Autumn 2013 Menswear Fashion Week.

1) Burberry Prorsum
Of course I am going to start with Burberry. If you didn't stream the live show then it's well worth a look online. Burberry shows are always a favourite of mine, and this was no different. Traditional autumn hues of khaki, berry and camel clashed with quirky animal prints, alongside classic cuts and tailoring. The overall feel of the collection was slightly more eccentric than traditional Burberry menswear shows which just proves the fact that mens fashion is becoming more playful and risky.

2) Valentino
The Valentino collection is an absolute favourite of mine. Beautiful classic pieces, with plenty of tweed and checks in a monochrome palette, absolutely beautiful. Valentino's stuff is always so elegant and this season it seemed very inspired by old British heritage and countryside, which I absolutely loved. The collection was really wearable and I seem to be a bit obsessed with tartan at the moment so kind of want the tartan suit for myself...!

3) Bottega Veneta
I have always been a fan of Bottega Veneta's womenswear, but this year, the menswear raised the bar. A very simple collection with muted tones, mostly consisting of black, grey, brown and camel. The simplicity allowed for traditional style to shine through. A really lovely collection which wasn't too out there or crazy!

4) Emporio Armani
Another beautiful and timeless collection was Emporio Armani. Armani are of course known for their sharp tailoring and sophisticated look and this collection was no different. Lots of traditional pieces with the occasional wacky piece thrown in to add a sense of fun. I particularly like the black fur jacket. Who would of thought it, men in fur!

5) Comme Des Garcons
I couldn't talk about mens fashion without mentioning Comme des Garcons! Their collection this season was as crazy as ever, definitely more of a statement than wearable fashion. The show was dominated by bright pastel colours and funky rabbit-ear-hat-things... an extreme look! All the models had an interesting long haired look going on, definitely rocking the 'boys looking like girls' trend to the max.

Company's Forum Blogger of the Week

I am terribly excited right now! I have just found out that I am Company's Forum Blogger of the Week! I am so incredibly happy as Company, for a while now, has been my favourite magazine and I purchase it religiously every month. I know they work closely with bloggers and I am constantly inspired by the great girls featured, so I feel extremely privileged to be chosen to be on the website.

Two of my favourite bloggers have been previous 'Bloggers of the Week'. Robyn from Robyn Mayday was the face of last week and Sindy from Article 21 was chosen the week before. I met both of these girls at an event last year and they are both absolutely wonderful ladies and utter babes!

Today has generally been the best day anyway! I had a presentation for one of my final year projects this morning, which went extremely well...then I found out I won Laura from Laurzrah giveaway to win a Nars Laguna Bronzer, and now this!! So very, very happy! Thank you to everyone who reads, I hugely appreciate it! :)

Kiehls Blogger Event

Yesterday I went along to the lovely Kiehls store in Nottingham for their first blogger event. I have always admired Kiehls from afar and have wanted to try their products for a long time, particularly their 'hero' product, the #1 lip balm. The brand has countless celebrity fans and even make-up artists worship it, which means it must be good!

After arriving and getting refreshed with some fruity champagne and lots and lots of popcorn, we were shown a video about the history of the brand and then given a run through of the best selling products by the team. The 3 staff at the store were absolutely amazing, and a fountain of knowledge on skincare. Looking at the products, I could definitely spend a small fortune in there. We were then given a consultation to discover our skin type (I'm 'normal', you will be happy to know!) and shown the products best suited to our skin.

After a bit more popcorn and a delicious Kiehls cupcake we parted ways with a lovely goody bag to test out! We were very generously given the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I am beyond excited to try out as I tested it in store and it smells delicious! Along with the Ultra Facial Cleanser and the Ultra Facial Moisturisor. Watch this space for a review...

Overall I had a lovely evening and met some gorgeous bloggers. I will definitely be purchasing some more items very soon and if you live in Nottingham I would highly recommend popping along to the store to meet the lovely staff and have a little play with the products! Warning, you may come away with a dent in your bank balance...

Geeky Baroque

As you probably know I am a bit of an F&F fan at the moment, and have got some gorgeous stuff from there recently. It is so cheap and you would never believe it was from Tesco!! Here is  another of my bargains, this gorgeous baroque print pencil skirt. This was the perfect item for Christmas parties over the festive season as it's dressy yet sophisticated. I seem to be loving the more sophisticated look at the moment and I am drawn to long skirts and tailored trousers, must mean I am getting old!

I am also going through a rough patch with my hair. I just don't know what to do with it anymore! I really fancy a change but nothing too drastic..considering dying it either blonder or a brunette colour, I just don't know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tim (again) and Mulberry

YES! My two favourite things in fashion have come together again! Tim Walker and Mulberry for the new Spring campaign.Yes, I know I keep harking on about Tim Walker, some would think I am some kind of super fan, but his images are truly beautiful! This time it is all about 'under the sea', a trend that is set to be key for Spring this year. The images full of pastels, coral and bubbles all come to together to create the artwork, with the stunning Megham Collison heading the campaign. Not to mention, the gorgeous items she is modelling, I need that white bag! Maybe one day I will be able to afford one, but until then, I am just happy admiring!

What do you think of the new campaign?
