Purple Surprise

Another outfit post for you today, which may be my last post for a while. I am currently going through the very stressful period of my life which is the dreaded final year dissertation. My hand in is in about 3 weeks and then I will be finished university for good. Which means that in the next 3 weeks I will be cutting out every aspect of my life apart from report writing. Therefore, blogging will have to be put on hold! :( Anyway, here is a little outfit to leave you with, a rather sophisticated one today, perfect for an interview, which I will hopefully have lots of in the next few months! This casual dress is from H&M for a bargain £7.99, perfect to dress up or down!
Who else is feeling the strains of final year work?

Dr Organic

I was lucky enough to be given LOADS of samples of Dr Organic products in the Nottingham beauty bloggers meet goody bag last weekend and I may now be an organic convert. I have never really thought too much about the chemicals that I put on my skin daily, but reading about Dr Organic and what it stands for has made me think more about natural ingredients.

"Dr Organic is a holistic approach to health and well-being and ensures the products you apply on your body are as natural and organic as what you put in your body. Dr Organic is committed to creating unique, natural products which are functional by design while capturing the active natural ingredients included in each product."

I love the idea of using natural products with no nasty chemicals which can produce nasty side affects and all the samples I received were gorgeous. Including the Tea Tree toothpaste, which I was a little nervous to try. I use tea tree oil on everything, but knowing how strong it is, the thought of putting it in my mouth was just wrong. However, it was really minty and fresh and just like any other toothpaste, but completely natural and organic.

Another of my favorites was the Morrocan Argan Oil shampoo. I don't need to tell you about the benefits of Argan Oil to your hair as we all know by now, but it works wonders for skin, hair and nails. The shampoo smelt lovely and left my hair feeling shiny and strong.

Finally, my ultimate favourite had to be the Dead Sea Mineral Bio-Plasma mud mask. The detoxifying mask was so refreshing and relaxing and after 10 minutes, left my skin feeling lovely and smooth. All the goodies inside, including aloe vera, algae extract, kelp extract and mandarin peel oil plus loads more really make you feel like you are doing your skin so much good. Best of all is the price. for just £7.99 for a tube of this face mask and similar prices for the rest, the products are an absolute bargain for 100% organic and natural products!

Have you tried anything from Dr Organic?

Nottingham BBloggers Meetup

Yesterday was the long awaited Nottingham bloggers meetup which I have been looking forward to for aaages!! A day full of shopping, eating, drinking and meeting some beautiful ladies! The day consisted of lots and lots of shopping and I was very restrained and only bought one, very cheap, dress! We were also invited along by the lovely staff at Kiehls for a chance to test out some of their gorgeous products and have a skin consultation. As well as champagne and cupcakes of course!! My love of Kiehls is ever-growing and I came away with many more products added to my birthday wishlist!

We then continued our girly shopping expedition all over Nottingham which resulted in very achy legs and sore feet and I think everyone was more than ready for a cocktail and a sit down when it came to TGI's time! When we arrived at TGI's, all 30 of us had a place card with the biggest goody bag you have ever seen in front of us! No one could quite believe there was one full bag as well as another huge Liz Earle bag! It was truly like Christmas had come early! Eating and drinking then commenced with little interruptions throughout with MORE giveaway prizes to be won! I was lucky enough to win the Antipodes Avocado and Rosehip face oil, which I have been told is a miracle worker!!

I had such a lovely day and it was so nice to catch up with some old friends and meet lots of new lovely bloggers. Thank you so much to Sophia for putting in so much work and organising it along with the help of Sophie, Jessie and Amiiee. And of course, thank you to all the brands who so generously gave things for the goody bags, I can't wait to review them!

Motel Press Day

Yesterday, whilst fulfilling many errands all over London, I briefly popped along to the Motel press day showcasing the new collections for A/W 2013 aswell as their new high summer stuff. The event was a throwback to the 90's with a full scale 90's bedroom installation, Spice Girl posters, blow-up chairs and all! I was even given a slush puppy (So 90's) on my arrival and there were tuck-shop-style sweets all over. You could even get yourself some henna tattoo or coloured highlights! The new collection was really quirky and fun, with neons, clashing prints, tie-dye, the lot! Perfect for summer and festival fun. The A/W collection reflected what Motel do best, with some gorgeous party dresses and sparkly going-out looks. Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery right at the start so apologies for my rubbish phone quality photos!

Lifework: Norman Parkinson

Yesterday I went up to London for a girly day out with my Mum. As well as a spot of shopping, lots of food and cocktail breaks and seeing the amazing Billy Elliot, we also went along to the National Theatre to see the Norman Parkinson 'Lifework' exhibition. I didn't know too much about Norman Parkinson's work before the exhibition, although I soon realised I had seen much of his work in old Vogues but never realised it was his. He is one of the twentieth century's best known British fashion photographers and created stunning photographs for over 50 years. Aswell as countless iconic images in fashion magazine such as Vogue and Queen, his work included celebrities, artists, actors and even the royal family. He is best known for bringing the fashion shoot outside of the rigid studio environment and taking it into an outdoors setting. His work often focuses on exotic and exciting locations and he traveled all over the world to gain the most elusive shot. These photographs in beautiful and exotic locations have to be my favourite of his work as they were truly revolutionary for the time. Much of his work epitomises the glamour of the decade, whilst also giving an element of humour. From glamourous ladies in New York in the 40's to posing with an elephant in India in the 50's, Parkinson was truly diverse. The exhibition showcases his early work from the 1930's right through to his latest work before his death in the 1980's. What really surprised me is that many of the images taken years ago look like they could appear in Vogue today, the technicality of the photos were extremely advanced for the time and many of the photographs could have been taken today. I would highly recommend popping along to the exhibition if you are in London, it is on until the 12th May and is completely free!
