My Daily Makeup Routine

I thought I would share with you my daily make-up routine today. This is my standard 'face' for every day going to work or going out at the weekend. However, I do like to add a bit of lippy or eyeshadow to the equation now and then to mix it up a bit! Most of these products I have been using for a while now and are firm favourites in my make up bag. I will talk you through my routine...
After cleansing and moisturising I begin by applying my Kiehls BB Cream. I just use my fingers for this as I feel it looks more natural and blends more easily than with a brush. I try to use BB cream as much as I can without having to use a foundation as it is so much lighter and natural on my face. However, when my skin is looking really blotchy or if I have a sudden breakout, sometimes I have to switch to a heavier foundation. I love this one by Kiehls as it is gives quite good coverage at the same time as being light and dewy. I have reviewed it in more detail here. I then cover up the dreaded under eye shadows using my YSL Touche Eclait. You may have read my review on this before here, and how I am not the biggest fan considering the price tag. At the moment I am just using this up really and will then revert back to buying a cheaper version when it is finished as I don't think it is worth the money. I also use this on the sides of my nose to reduce redness. Next I comb my eyebrows with my little brush and sometimes fill them in, sometimes not, depending if I can be be bothered! They don't really need filling in but sometimes I like that extra bit of definition. However, I am obsessed with combing my eyebrows and they always have to look neat and in place... my friends laugh at me for carrying this little comb round everywhere and whacking it out for a quick brush at random times!
Next, I move onto the eyes, which simply consists of a flick of eye liner and some mascara. However, it is definistely the most time-consuming part. I begin with using a gel eye liner, which, after a lot of trial and error, I have discovered is the easiest form of eye liner for me, giving the best results. After finishing my beloved Bobbi Brown gel liner, I couldn't justify spending that much again so went for a Maybelline one, which is just as good and half the price. It also comes with a little brush, which is the best shape and density for the perfect line. After lining just the top lid, I then move onto the mascara. I am so anal with my mascara and can't understand how some people can just apply a couple of swipes and they're done, it takes me a good 5 minutes to get it perfect. I apply mascara to my top and bottom lashes to open up my eyes. My current favourite is Pur Minerals Big Blink which gives the perfect amount of lengthening and curling. I think it may just be my all time favourite mascara and can see myself sticking with it for a long time- a rareity for a mascara whore like myself!
Once my eyes are done I then finish of my face. I use a Mac Studio Finish Concealer (which lasts forever!) to cover up any blemishes, using a Jemma Kidd concealer brush. I then use my Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder all over my face to set it all and perfect my skin. Now I have to say, this is proabably my favourite product of all time. I have tried to look for cheaper alternatives but nothing beats it! I am now on my second one and it has nearly run out, so I will be re-purchasing this weekend. Although parting with £22 for a face powder hurts me a little bit, it does last for ages so is probably better value for money than cheaper powders. I then sweep my Nars Laguna Bronzer over my forehead, down my nose and under my cheekbones to give a little bit of definition and colour. This and Benefit Hoola are the best bronzers you will ever use, trust me! Then finally I sweep Benefit Coraline over my cheekbones and under my brow bone to give me a bit of a flush. This has also nearly run out so I'm currently on the look out for a new blusher to try, any recommendations!? And last but not least, I, of course, finish my routine off with another brush of the old brows, standard! So there you have it, my daily makeup routine. I am always so interested to hear how people apply their makeup and find it so fascinating to watch other people do it. Do you use any of these products? What are your must-have makeup buys, I would love some tips!

  1. Lovely post! Collection 2000 and Maybelline do really good alternatives to the YSL Touche Eclat and are such good value. X
