Fringing

I feel like I want to go to a festival in this outfit. There is something about fringing that just screams festival. I am not going to any festival this year...but wearing this at least makes me feel like I am! I am obsessed with this little kimono since picking it up from New Look a couple of weeks ago. It is the perfect thing to throw on over any outfit and goes with everything. I also can't wait to wear it in the summer as a beach cover up over my bikini.

This is the perfect outfit for a spot of bank holiday weekend shopping with my boyfriend. As it was my birthday last week I received a few vouchers to spend and they have been burning a hole in my pocket ever since! So watch out for another spree...

Stripey

WARNING- this post contains bare legs!
This is the first time since probabaly last September that my legs have not been wrapped in some cosy trousers or tights. I finally decided it was time to get the old legs out and give them a little sprinkle of sunshine this weekend. However, I have a feeling they may need to be put away again now until mid June, judging by the rather changeable weather we are getting at the moment. Anyway, as you can see, the pins weren't out for long as I decided it was way too chilly and had to change back to my trusty trousers.

I love this little two piece that I picked up from Zara a couple of weeks ago. This is my new favourite top as it goes with everything and I have always been a sucker for blue and white stripes. I love wearing it with the matching skirt, or if I'm not quite feeling brave enough, a great pair of trousers. I wore this outfit at the weekend for some much needed retail therapy with my mum where I picked up some fab bargains including an amazing summer coat from H&M for £15 which I am sure you will be seeing in an outfit post very soon!

Discovering Xen-Tan

One of our clients at work is the wonderful tanning brand Xen-Tan and on Thursday we had a spray tanning event for the brand. The event was held at National Magazines just off Carnaby Street so all the journalists in the building could come and grab a quick spray tan on their lunch break to add a little bit of sunshine to the dull weather. There were two spray tanners in action, both working tirelessly to get through the clients as each lady went behind the screens looking pale and emerged as a bronzed goddess.

I admit that I am rubbish at applying my own fake tan. I always seem to have some kind of issue, be it streaky legs or patchy hands, so when I had the chance to have a professional spray tan I jumped at it! I have had a couple of spray tans before but I have never been very impressed with them. One I had didn't seem to do anything at all, and the other went patchy after a couple of days. However, I have now been converted to the Xen-Tan spray tan and can feel myself becoming a tanning addict. After my tan I felt like a new woman and the colour was so beautiful and natural. I really felt glowing and I have received so many compliments in the last few days saying how good I look! The tan is a really lovely natural colour and not at all orange. After all, Xen-Tans motto is 'olive not orange'. I was so impressed with the colour and longevity of the tan that I am defintely going to be trying out some more products from the range and will become a full on tanning convert. As we all know, life is better with a tan!

Another Day Out

Yesterday myself, my best friend and both of our mums went up to London for a girly day out in the sunshine. We began our day at the wonderful Spanish festival on the South Bank. We were so lucky with the weather as the sun was shining all day and it was so toasty, it actually felt like we were in Spain! The Campo Viejo festival consisted of lots of amazing stalls along the river selling delicious food produce, from freshly cut parma ham to paella to churros! Everything I love about Spanish food. We decided to make the most of it and ended up getting a 3 course meal there. We began with some parma ham, olives and nibbles for starters, then went back for some paella for main and then finished it all off with churros and chocolate sauce. Of course, this was all washed down with a large jug of sangria...when in Spain! While we were there we also took part in an experiment they were holding. It was to discover whether the taste of food or drink is affected depending on your surroundings. The main reason we decided to do this was for a free glass of wine, obviously! But it was actually really interesting. We were taken into a room with a glass of wine each and asked to taste the wine in different lights. There were 4 different coloured lights, and different sounds. Surprisingly, we discovered that the taste of the wine was different depending on which 'setting' we were in. This fully explains why when you go on holiday and drink the local beer it tastes absolutely amazing, but then if you buy some and bring it home, it just doesn't taste the same when drinking it in your living room on a miserable English day!

After we had fully made the most of the Spanish culture, we headed over to Camden. I love Camden in the sun, and always love finding new parts of the markets that I haven't discovered before. We spent a good few hours exploring the markets and taking in the summery atmosphere, which, always makes me feel like I am on holiday- a little less frightening version of the Souks in Marrakech!

We then headed to Shaftesbury Avenue for a bite to eat and some much needed cocktails before our theatre date. We went to our favourite little watering hole, Bar Salsa, were they do delicious flavoured mojitos and play great Spanish music...can you spot a theme here? After a few too many cocktails we then headed to the Phoenix Theatre to see Once. It was such a beautiful show with some amazing music which I was singing all the way home. I have also downloaded the soundtrack today which I am obsessed with. After the show, our aching feet told us it was time to call it a day. We headed home, however, we had to stop in Trafalgar Square on the way for a bit of a boogie as a busker was playing some great songs, and everyone was just dancing and having a good time around him. When we couldn't dance any more, we headed back to Waterloo and of course, all fell fast asleep on the journey home! All in all, the perfect girly day out with a taste of holiday spirit all in good old London!

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

I am a huge sucker for hair masks. I have been addicted to the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle for a good 5 years now and love using it at least once a week. However, I think I have now been converted to the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque.

I have used a sachet of this mask before, and loved it then, but as it was only a one-use treatment, I didn't get the long term benefit. I have now got a huuuuuge tub and have fallen in love! I have been using the mask on a weekly to twice weekly basis for about a month now and have seen a huge improvement in my hair. Even when I got it cut the other day my hairdresser commented on how healthy and shiny my hair was looking!

I apply the mask to wet hair after shampooing from root to tip. It says to leave it for up to 7 minutes to let it penetrate the hair. However, being far too lazy in the shower, I normally leave it for about 4 or 5 minutes and give up, but that is still enough time! I then thoroughly wash it out and finish with my normal conditioner on the ends. After blow drying, my hair feels beautiful and smooth and looks so much healthier.

The mask contains Omega 3, 5 and 7 to revitalise dry and damaged hair, and you can really feel all the nutrients working on your hair. It also smells absolutely amazing and the scent stays on your hair after rinsing. All round thumbs up from me!
